Celosia, designed by Patricia Urquiola for Mutina, reinterprets traditional terracotta craftsmanship through a bold, architectural lens. Produced using an artisanal extrusion process, each piece emerges with tactile irregularities and a natural, earthy presence that reflects its handcrafted origins. Featuring a distinctive triangular lattice pattern, Celosia creates dynamic shadow play and unique visual rhythms reminiscent of the Roman numeral system.
Developed as part of Mutina’s 3D Collections, Celosia allows designers to transcend flat surfaces and build three-dimensional walls, partitions, and filters that subtly divide space while permitting airflow and light passage. With a substantial 10 cm thickness, the blocks feel architectural and structural, ideal for both residential and commercial environments.
Celosia comes in a single natural terracotta hue, highlighted across the catalogue photography, and can be installed indoors or outdoors in areas with moderate exposure (F1 rating). Mutina also offers painted willow profiles for precision installation and an eco-friendly Mutina adhesive developed exclusively for the system.
From sculptural feature walls to expressive partitions, Celosia blends handcrafted materiality with modern spatial design - a warm, tactile solution that adds depth, texture, and timeless architectural character.
