Déchirer, designed by Patricia Urquiola for Mutina, is a groundbreaking porcelain stoneware collection that unites the tactile memory of torn surfaces with cutting-edge manufacturing technology. Produced using Continua technology, which forms large, homogeneous unglazed slabs. Déchirer achieves an exceptionally subtle bas-relief texture that is both visually refined and suitable for floors and walls.
The collection offers two primary surfaces:
Décor — delicate raised motifs inspired by layered patterns, lace, grids, and torn imprints
Neutral — soft, matte surfaces with understated tonality
Both express the nuance of concrete while maintaining the identity of ceramics.
Déchirer is available in five colours — Bianco, Nero, Grigio, Ecrù, and Piombo — and multiple formats, including 120×120 cm slabs, 60×120 cm, 60×60 cm, large hexagons, and a random mosaic. These modules allow designers to work across scales, from expansive floors to richly textured feature walls.
The collection also extends into Déchirer (La Suite) with two additional textures, Net and Trace, in three colours (Calce, Cemento, Cenere), offering a more architectural, abstract expression of pattern and material.
With exceptional technical performance — including R10 slip resistance, high breaking strength, and near-zero water absorption — Déchirer is ideal for residential, commercial, and architectural environments seeking a subtle yet sophisticated surface language.
