Fringe, the first Mutina collection by Michael Anastassiades, reinterprets the idea of an ornamental “fringe” through a minimalist architectural lens. Each 12.3×12.3 cm tile is engraved with a series of parallel segments — either Thin (6 mm) or Bold (15 mm) — creating a rhythmic linear language that can be woven, rotated, or combined to define space.
The pronounced groove spacing produces a refined brick-like design. By varying orientation or mixing Thin and Bold modules, designers can create seamless patterns reminiscent of woven textiles or modular “carpets” that visually organize interiors. Fringe adapts effortlessly to both subtle and expressive compositions, depending on the chosen grout colour, significantly influencing the final aesthetic, as shown throughout the catalogue imagery.
Made from unglazed, rectified porcelain stoneware (BIa UGL), Fringe performs exceptionally in residential and commercial spaces, indoors or outdoors, and on both floors and walls. Available in five contemporary colours — White, Anthracite, Grey, Rose, and Red — the series blends craft, texture, and geometry into an elevated architectural surface.
