Brac, designed by Nathalie Du Pasquier for Mutina, transforms the traditional terracotta brick into a sculptural, modular design element. Produced through an artisanal extrusion process, each block features a distinctive double-notched silhouette and internal voids, allowing light and shadow to pass through and animate architectural spaces.
Originally developed as an evolution of Du Pasquier’s artistic “BRIC” project for Mutina for Art, Brac functions as a three-dimensional building element that can be arranged vertically or horizontally. The design creates playful, unexpected optical effects, enhancing depth through repeated rhythm and the interaction of colour, volume, and light.
Available in five colours — Argilla (natural matt), Bianco, Salvia, Marrone, and Nero (glossy glazed finishes) — Brac can be used to form partitions, double walls, room dividers, and architectural features in both residential and commercial settings. Outdoor installation is permitted for Argilla only (moderate exposure), while all other colours are recommended for interiors.
With three approved staggered laying schemes, structural compatibility up to 4 meters in height (depending on anchoring), and a system of painted willow profiles and eco-friendly Mutina sealant, Brac blends craftsmanship with architectural performance. The result is a versatile, expressive design element that bridges function, creativity, and materiality.
